I think you've got to couple the trend along with the do you really want to deal with the discussion on day 1 that he's eligible? Not saying you cave to public pressure and certainly valid reasons with the injuries but maybe it's jsut my exhaustion from people bitching about it, i'd rather avoid that circus.
I was really, really, really waiting for someone to bring this up. And I feel fairly certain that Theo and Jed give absolutely zero fricks about what any doofus sports writer thinks about their decisions on a billion dollar organization and a multimillion dollar asset. I honestly feel like they just don't care.

I would certainly hope so.

I can see the merits for bringing up tomorrow or next week. Just know that a week from now we won't have to have this discussion anymore.

The injuries and the hot start are just aligning so perfectly.

Hard for anyone to argue the truth.

We also need to trade Wellington Castillo soon. Rostering 3 Cs plus an injured Olt is severely limiting the flexibility.

I disagree. I don't think it's a significant influence but certainly more than 0. if mlbpa stays true to their word and files a grievance it's one less arrow in their quiver. Again don't misconstrue it as caving to pressure rather just fortifying your position.

I'm going to be more certain of my thoughts on his callup after I see the I-Cubs lineup card for tonight.

If he's in the lineup for game 2, you can forget about Wrigley tomorrow.

I've already forgotten about it.

Addison Russell starts his first game at 2B tonight, too.

Is it time to worry about Arismendy Alcantara? 2-22 this year, BUT he does have 5 BB to 8 K.

I think it is. He still looks so lost when he's thrown a change up. He'll never have to be anything more than not miserable (ie better than barney) with the bat with his defensive utility.

He had a 17/93 BB/K last season in 278 AB. That's not good. He needs to be more selective...getting on base is what he should be all about. He's a great baserunner and a slick defender, so if he can make some adjustments with his plate discipline he will be extremely useful.

Fangraphs audio titled Dave Cameron: a reliable sample talks a little about AA's sustainably of his walk rate. Carson Cistulli basically just touches on the fact that he is slightly more likely to have a good walk rate because of his week 1 performance. Fangraphs audio is terrific.

Kris Bryant hit a song in game one, a 3R shot. Looked like it was off the end of the bat. He's simply amazing.

In his previous AB he hit an 0-2 pitch deep to RF and was robbed by a great catch. He missed a HR by a foot.
