Wonder if Don has time to stop payment on that check?

Better than the bitch getting 1/2 and this is 1970, she would get half probably with alimony.

What argument am I proping up? He has the money and it's cheaper than half his shite which she probably could've gotten. He wanted to be done with it. It wasn't some astronomical number that wasn't invented in the 70s yet. Done has cashed out millions in profits multiple times during the shows run

Also off topic but does anyone else hate the damn previews before the shows that tell you exactly who is going to show up and who will be interacting?
Both GOTs and MM did that tonight and it's really stupid

I don't think people know how divorces work judging by them being baffled about Megan getting a million. He got off easy.

Yeah...I cut that off quickly.

Was "half" even common in the 70's? I mean, what would Don have been stuck with?
I don't think this was don getting off easy. I think this was Don buying his stairway to heaven. Or trying to do so.

Thanks, Dr. Evil.

That doesn't mean that some secretary/failed actress who was your second wife (no kids) for about 3 years should get $1M in cash.
More fundamentally, though. That was a bottom 5 Mad Men episode (for the series). Not a good luck for the sixth to last episode in a nearly 8-year run.
And what is with the waitress?

It was the standard with alimony

It's fiction. In fiction writers make the rules. No matter what the peanut gallery says, did it look as though the writers were portraying this as some deal for Don? No. So their arguments are invalid.

I'm not saying it was 100 percent a smart financial move, but it was one that's realistic numbers wise. Which is what everyone figured out already
You think Weiner, who is weirdly obsessed with detailing every little bit to get the era right, wouldn't check to make sure that's what a reasonable figure for the time and dons wealth?

Megan said 500K on the phone to settle out, Don gave her a mill and sprayed her with "Bitch Be Gone"

I don't understand why people are surprised that Don wrote that check. He always writes checks to solve problems. That's been his way for the whole show.

Pretty sure she meant 500 literal dollars for the move out (based upon the later dialogue with her mum and sister).

He could have just left the money on the dresser like a gentleman.

I just didn't think that was the point. Don wasn't trying to get off easy. He just didn't want to deal with it. Take your money and be gone from my life you crazy bitch.

Thank you. This whole thing started with someone saying that number was ridiculous, then whenever we showed it was a reasonable number, the argument switched to "well he didn't get off easy" which no one said he did

I guess you poor folks know nothing of prenups, stupid of Don. Megan has sucked in general, brought nothing to show imo and isn't all that attractive like some of yal think.

Don is kind of an idiot when it comes to finances. He probably had never heard of a prenup when he married Megan
And I agree on your other points. Never liked her.

Don reminds of Tony Soprano in some ways. Throws money around because he feels bad about himself.
