I think this is being overblown a bit by fans, considering the Browner signing and re-signing of Joe Morgan

"I think we struggled with some leadership positions," said Payton when asked about causes of the Saints' 7-9 finish in 2014.

It's not smart to smoke weed knowing that you will be tested at the Combine. It's even dumber not to attempt to even try to clean your system out knowing that you have been blowing blunt after blunt.

Payton said creating a culture of leadership would start in that locker room.

"I think it's creating the environment for leadership to flourish," he said. "Sometimes that can be stifled, if you will, and I've got to do a better job of creating that environment -- certainly better than we did a year ago."

You can't cultivate an environment of leadership in the lockeroom when the lockeroom is filled with blunt smoke.

Although I've read that his off-the-field issues go beyond the failed drug tests, I would take Gregory in this situation.

The team had a serious problem with players showing up late for team meetings, practice & road trip flights as well as players not putting in the necessary work to be the best players they can be. These issues obviously affected the team’s performance on the field last season yet people are advocating taking risk on players with red flags galore? Draft one & the minute one of these red flag risk do something dumb off the field, everyone would be complaining & saying why did the team draft this dumbfrick for in the first place.

Trust me, I've read all of that before and understand it. However, the team isn't having a dinner with Marcus Peters as a "smoke screen." I know signing Morgan, or even Browner, isn't as risky as using a draft pick on players, but judging by their actions, they obviously believe in 2nd (or more) chances if the truly believe in a player.
