Well, it worked out for me in a particular situation, so believe what you want that it is useless.
Probably about 80% of the time, you guys are correct. Like I said, it was an exaggeration, not that you guys are completely wrong.
In a very large company, they literally determine salary by what is on your resume, so it certainly can be a factor.
But for purposes of this conversation, you are likely correct that the MSacct is not really going to ever benefit him.

A MAcc is not useless without a CPA. It bridges the gap between your lack of undergrad in accounting. I went back and got my MAcc and after just a few classes in, I was interviewing for Big 4 and regional jobs. Then I got accounting experience, graduated and and glad I did it the way I did it the way I did it. I didn't want to get a general MBA, but if it's free, take it and do as many Accounting classes as you can.
