quote:
* Indian military drones run amok
* -with extreme value solar cells
Supposedly in the initial drafts, that was supposed to be much more important in the grand scheme of things in the movie, where the solar cell comes in a lot of handy later in the film.
quote:
* NASA operating clandestinely and in MM's back yard
To me it's not that NASA is in his backyard (he worked for them in the past after all and I don't think Cooper has gone too far from where he worked for them), it's that NASA wasn't aware that he was around or think to go looking for him. They've known about the wormhole for 50 years and were sending probes into it when Cooper was flying for them. They would have certainly at least kept tabs on him.
quote:
* idiotarian teachers "we don't teach the moon landing any more"
I like that, because really it just shows how fricking embarrassing we've become as a species. We haven't technically left the Earth's atmosphere since 1972, and we've become really stagnant as a species obsessed with pointless bullshite. Cooper's generation in the film was nicknamed the "Caretakers", which actively promoted being stagnant as a species and to look at everything we did in the past as merely a waste. Trivializing the single greatest thing we've done as a species is propaganda to make people just focus on their immediate livelihood rather focusing on dreams and ideas.

I've now watched it all the way through 3 times.
loved it every time. the scenario they're in depresses me and seems like such a feasible reality with the way people think these days.
it also depresses me because I probably won't be around to see what we discover in the next frontier and I'm only 30. we'd rather spend our money elsewhere.
the ONLY thing I do not really care for about the movie is Hathaway's character at times. she just seems a bit weak and I did not like her love speech. I felt like they let her make that speech just so she'd have a share of the spotlight for a few minutes in the film.
Oh yeah, I didn't like how his family did not really acknowledge him much when he went to see grandma Murph at the end.
I still give it 9/10.

completely agree,,,
take a look for instance at the extravagant shite being built in dubai, not that I'm against opulence per say, this is just an example of what is possible in this day and age and yet we are stifled from building great things in this country mostly due to arrogant, greedy self interested government that sucks the life blood from the industrious to propagate itself.

socialism at its root core, sacrificing dreams and striving for greatness to ensure the lowest common denominators are not "left behind".
