"7. Ben Simmons won't live up to the hype: Simmons is a great prep player. He's the No. 1 high school player in America for a reason. The 6-foot-9 forward could be the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NBA draft. He has the tools to be an immediate threat at this level. Just one problem: He has a coach who doesn't have a knack for developing talent. Jarell Martin and Jordan Mickey didn't make the strides that most anticipated when the two NBA prospects returned for the 2014-15 season. Simmons will have the ball in his hands a lot next season. But will Johnny Jones and his staff mold him into the superstar that he's expected to be? There are no guarantees of that."

Yea, cause Jarell didn't make a huge jump from year 1 to year 2.

I think he'll be a 15/8/4 player. Is that considered living up to the hype?

I don't see him winning the Naismith or anything

He writer of that article would get a PM from admins instructing him to quit bashing the basketball coach. There is no place on this site for that type of criticism.

You've got to love how ESPN conveniently ignores the fact every recruit Jones has signed has developed at LSU, and he clearly developed raw talent at UNT.

What about Cal not developing the Harrison twins to one and done's?

Johnny's got a lot to prove this year, no question. But Simmons is going to wreck.

Now this article will be used as ammo by the JJ haters and the same people who denounce ESPN just because this once it helps their claim.

he likely wont live up to the hype, but it wont be coach jones' fault.

it's the people that have too high of expectations.

freshman are volatile, even the best ones.

This is just an out right lie. I now this is kind of a joke on here but ESPN has it out for Johnny Jones for some reason. You can complain about Johnny X and O but player development is not a problem here.

Just look at this year team Martin and Mickey both made major improvements, and Tim made the biggest jump. I find it funny how every time ESPN writes a hate article about LSU they leave him out. Shoot Johnny even develop Tuba into a serviceable player.

He is being hyped up quite a bit. It may be impossible for him to live up to it.
