I'm a CCNA in R&S and I've begun studying for CCNP in R&S.
Your route entirely depends on what you want to do. I work for an ISP, and I intend to keep it that way so I want to stay on the R&S path, and hopefully get my employer to send me to the service provider class to get that as well.
If it was me, I'd go with CCNP R&S and then move to a more specific cert like Security.
