baseball is a fluid game. It's good to have principles, but its impossible to always stick to them in the flow of the game.

the fact that some of the same people that cry when we bunt too much, are the ones crying now when we don't bunt. So what about their principles? It's not always black and white

and I think the notion that he did this because of his ego is laughable.

Then why did he do it?

There is a situation where the data suggests that it is the correct call to sacrifice bunt. It just so happened that situation came up. Our coach didn't bunt, and a double play happened. That legitimate criticism doesn't mean we want him to bunt in the large majority of situations where bunting is stupid. I don't think it is too much to ask that your coach not split 10s in a conference game.

The people that cried about too much bunting are always against bunting? Is that your assumption?

When a coach goes with his gut in a situation that IS black and white like this one was, I think you can attribute it to ego. What else could it be if you know he understands baseball?

I'm not talking generalizations like you are. This was a specific play call.

And look at the 12th Lester. He bunts Chinea with no outs, runners at 1st and 2nd. Same exact situation (except you have to get 2 runs). We get a run. That's not a coincidence.
