That's an interpretation of the bible. In the catholic faith, it is the actions of a person that determines their salvation. Only Protestants have that, um, complicated view that words somehow trump that lived religion.
It's why Catholics believe people like Gandhi will be in heaven and Joel olsteen and that philandering preacher from healing place probably won't.
