I can respect that my man.
Yes, the offense ran into a major bump in the road last season but a major reason behind that was not having a QB waiting in the wings who had been on campus at 2 or more years already. The Gunner Kiel spurning left us with a major void after Mett's graduation.
It made for a messy situation for Cam Cameron to step into in 2013. Even though he was able to take the upperclass talent he inherited & make it shine, the lack of talented experience behind Mett put him in a bind going into 2014.
People have to remember Jennings fell into Cam's lap when he arrived. Jennings wasn't someone Cam recruited but he had to try to make it work due to the circumstances. Harris is Cam's guy. Despite Jennings being a 4* recruit & Elite 11 participant, I'm not really convinced that Jennings would have been pursued if Cam was handling the situation then. I think he looks for certain particulars from a mental perspective when he does his one on one evaluations with quarterback recruits. I could very well be wrong but Jennings doesn't jump off as someone Cam would pursue. Doesn't mean he can't evolve & develop in his system though.
It also irks me when posters on here go through their rants & shite on Cam like he doesn't know what the hell he's doing. He can coach up these quarter backs but he can't go out there & make the plays for them. Nor can he make them absorb the information he's providing any faster despite what any fan says. He didn't become someone who is as highly respected in the football world without knowing what he is doing. Philip Rivers, Joe Flacco, Drew Brees & Mett all seem to agree that they were better off from his lessons during their development stages. QB guru George Whitfield seems to agree as well. He says he owes everything he knows to Cam Cameron. The longer Cam hangs around, the more stable our quarterback situation will be moving forward.
Whitfield, Cameron share longtime bond
Whitfield made that quote a year ago. If you look at what Cam has done in landing Brandon Harris & who he has coming down the pipeline, you realize Whitfield is spot on in his prediction.

quote:
Michigan. USC. Stanford. LSU? Three of those football powers are known for their abilities to attract the nation’s top quarterback prospects. The fourth could join their ranks, said quarterback guru George Whitfield Jr., largely because of his mentor, Cam Cameron.
“When your guy that you spend all day with -- meetings, practice, this and that -- has built and grown Drew Brees, [Philip] Rivers, [Joe] Flacco, who two of the three have won Super Bowls and the other one I think is one of the top six, seven, eight quarterbacks in the league, and now you get a chance to partake in this? That’s what I’m telling you. This is one of the top destination spots now,” Whitfield said during a visit to LSU.
“If I’m a big-time high school quarterback with aspirations to play in the NFL and I want to win in college, this is one of those places on one hand now that you’re going to find. And they will be for some time. The recruiting’s going to shift now.”
