Coached 2 of our most important pieces. I'm sure they would be all for it. I don't pretend to know about all the x's and o's but this team lacks a fire. They have a lot of nice guys. Nothing wrong with that and beating your chest doesn't mean you're good. But with the personalities of a lot of our guys, coupled with the low key, nice guy head coach might not be the best combination.

We need someone that can light a fire in these guys sometimes. Get on Tyreke when he plays like a dumbass, not be so loyal to Ryno when he's off, let EG run the offense when we have no movement with Reke, etc. Possibly put a top 15 defense on the floor with Asik, AD & Jrue.

I just think it's time for a change.

Believe me, I'd take him too but I'm intrigued with Cal and his history with AD/Reke. I think AD loves Monty & wouldn't be happy if we fired him unless Cal was coming.

So it's really based entirely on emotions and relationships?

Also, he's WAY too intense for an 82 game season. The NBA wouldn't be healthy for him.

Lack of history means he might not be loyal to Ryno, but what makes you think he wouldn't be loyal to Tyreke rather than riding his arse? This "he coached them 1 year in college" is almost as bad an argument as "Avery is local". Guys are bought in, that's not the problem with this team. I don't know much about Cal but I do believe I've seen mention of his dribble-drive offense and how it might fit the personnel we have. If I were to get excited about him it'd have to be about what he can bring strategically, not that he has an established relationship with our franchise player. I guarandamntee you that whoever is the next coach will go out of their way to have the best possible relationship with AD. The business doesn't work any other way.

This was my line of thinking as well.

Though Davis has worked with Thibs before on team USA. Anyone know how well Davis likes him?

Also, players would want to come play for him...
