She was convicted in Sept 2003, so the incident would have happened in 2002 or even 2001. The school might have kept it hush-hush when you were there since Mrs. Strain was still teaching (she was awesome BTW).
The school was OK when I was there, but by no means was it highly regarded
. Most of my class went to college.

Lucky.
My class was only like 12 people anyway, but none went to college.
All of the girls from my grade have at least 1 child over the age of 4 (I am 24). Several of the girls from the grade below me have children now too, and only 1 person from the grade below me (which was about 30 or so kids) went to college.
