It's always been virtually automatic. I think the conversion rate was 90-95% even in the 60s. Now it's 95-100%. This is finding something to complain about. Football has genuine issues... this is not one of them.

Yep, they have more pressing issues to deal with than the pat. The poster making the analogy to a leading business standing still is way off base. A company shouldn't be tweaking shite just to do it.

I think the extra point is basically "pointless"

The easiest, most logical fix, if you had to change it, is to just eliminate the kick , let the team have 7 points for a TD, don't waste time with the kick that will be made probably over 99% of the time.

And if you want to go for 2, you lose the automatic point, and get either 6 or 8 points depending on if you convert.

I like that extra points are close and automatic. There's no need to change them.. push them further back.. to try to make it harder to convert.

I like that it's so devastating to miss an extra point.
