FIFA has announced it will distribute £142m to clubs as compensation for the release of players involved in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

FIFA, which has agreed the deal with the European Club Association (ECA) following the decision to switch the finals to November and December, will also pay clubs the same amount for their players' involvement in the 2018 tournament in Russia.

A total of £47.5m was given to clubs with players involved in last year's World Cup in Brazil, with the compensation distributed to teams for the 2010 finals in South Africa £27.13m.

Looking to put that Russian gov't/oil and arab oil bribe money to good use.

Have the European leagues announced what they plan to do as far as taking a break during the World Cup?

There was no bribery involved in the selling of these world cup selections. Take this bribe money to stop complaining about it.

2022 in Qatar is going to be hilarious. Can you guys imagine the wild crowds on hand?

It's going to be like 80,000 sober middle eastern dudes at every match.

Everybody bitches and moans about no winter break for the EPL, but in my opinion the Christmas period is massive for clubs attendance and I love it

I do wonder if the compensation given will outweigh the drop in attendance revenue for the Christmas period for the teams
