Well said. I dont think the general public has any idea just how much work and effort the teams put forth. Its amazing.

This is really true, our friends had no idea how much time, money, and physical effort it takes for every single team out there.

In fact I think the smaller teams put in MORE time and money per person because many of those teams have very few, if any sponsors, less access to nice rigs and smokers, and in most cases don't have the ability to throw big fundraisers. That said, the non-"non-restaurant and big sponsor" teams are what makes Hogs really an awesome event and different from your normal festival. Hogs allows almost any group to participate, raise money for charity, and have a great time.

I'd estimate we put in about 4-500 man/woman hours from thurs - Sunday. From construction, hauling, cooking, serving, cleaning & tear down.
All of it volunteer - my retired parents did service non stop both nights. Plus all the wives & 6 very close friends/coworkers.

We served 3 dishes for about 3 hours Friday nite. Not easy. The hardest part is getting the volunteers. We get 10 wristbands for the team, then bought 10 more.

Do you think there would be any way to distribute more wristbands to the teams with larger plots to lessen the burden of having to buy them for our volunteers?
