Gun laws in Hawaii are crazy too. You have to have a permit and register every single gun you own. Apparently, the application process is a nightmare even for military stationed there.

I'm no lawyer but I'm pretty sure that's unconstitutional.
Yep, checked and apparently it's in the appeal process right now; the permitting process was deemed unconstitutional for a very similar law in CA last yr and Hawaii was essentially told they need to repeal their permitting laws to hold to federal law. Appeals are in process now, but it looks like it will be struck down ultimately.
