You say that but if you live in LA or TX and this gets extended longer than a year you are going to feel it no matter what you do for a living.

I'm a piping designer, and no one on the engineering side of things are worried at all. This is good for the U.S. We could get into politics, too, and discuss how we're buying American oil for a change instead of funding our enemies. At worst, we could've seen a little drop off of work for some guys, but it won't be an issue that progressively gets worse. It's extremely overblown. Don't let the news station try to scare you.

quick side bar question. Is the government filling up the strategic oil petro storage facilities to ultra capacity now that oil is cheap?

actually I can guess the answer. king Obama has only hurt the US will malicious intent. The answer is probably NO. I would guess he is probably having it pumped out and sent to Iran or Libya.

Yep. I'll feel it in my wallet when I have more spending money because I'm not spending it at the pump.

I'm just guessing but I'll probably be alright. However, I'll still shed a tear for all the hood rich oil field boys in Crowley and Rayne whose F-250s are getting repo'd and whose mortgages are 3 months behind. I'll shed a tear just like they shed one for me when the Feds cut medicare payouts by damn near 20% 5 years ago and have been cutting every since. Yea I appreciated those tears....wait!!!

You reap the benefits of the industry you are in and deal with the consequences as well. The oil guys are the only ones that expect (and receive) sympathy from us other folks.

Wow this is wrong.

Non-O and G people actually get cheaper goods and services from this, leaving them with more spending money or savings.

So if you mean they'll feel it in a good way, I agree.

I can say with 100% certainty that the price of oil has no bearing on whether or not Xray machines break in my region.

This is bullshite. I live in Louisiana. I own a business that requires me to purchase, on average, 30,000-40,000 gallons of diesel annually. I'm tired of paying out the arse for the same fuel that I paid $1.00 a gallon for just prior to 9/11. I hope prices stay down. Yeah, I hate that some people may be out of work but those same people don't give a frick when I'm being billed $4 a gallon for fuel. The oil companies are still raking in multi-millions while I've seen skyrocketing input costs over the last decade strictly because of fuel prices. Also, the price of all goods and services have went thru the roof because of transportation costs. So excuse me if I don't get too upset about more money being in MY pocket.

So move and get a different job. Isn't that what you're supposed to do if you're broke?
