Dammit. I knew I should have gone to Law School at UA.
Even though it is a good education and great value, you are still a lawyer when it's over. Not worth it in my opinion.

Bama looks to be great value

The irony here is that the Law school building is one of the very few buildings, old and new, on campus that looks dated of ugly 1970's architecture.

That's logical, they only had an 80+ % passage rate last July

These lists are arbitrary nonsense.

. This should tell you how much of a joke the rankings are... 22 spots?

The big fluctuations aren't that numerous. They are usually indicative of recent poor employment #s, a subpar incoming class (LSAT, GPA, Acceptance %) or a combination of the two.

The two factors that shouldnt matter much (but do) "Peer Assessment Score" and "Assessment by Judges and Lawyers" are not prone to fluctuate substantially from year to year. The same survey is going to a very similar group of people. Their prejudices exist generally from year to year

When a school falls hard its because of employment or the 1Ls.

But you are right it is stupid that LSU, or any other school gets publicly shamed like this for 1 year. They should release rankings every 2-3 years or so IMO.

I guess rankings matter because prospective students love em. For me there is only one set of statistics i would care about. That is employment #s

Methodology For Those Interested

Ya it is hard to believe that is not factored in anywhere, yet the legal community's opinion of a school is weighted .4

Edit: It is factored in .02, but the same point remains

looking back, I'm so glad I had shitty numbers and couldn't afford to worry about these silly rankings. I was just hoping someone would accept me

I'm actually going to law school next year and am accepted into UW in Seattle and LSU and the whole budget cuts thing at LSU is making me actually consider leaving the state.

Are the coming cuts supposed to hamper LSU even further? It's ridiculous that our state continues to cut education funding despite already being near-last in the category.

You would be nuts not to go to UW. LSU's law school isn't a widely respected law school whereas UW is pretty highly regarded nationally. The budget cuts are only going to worsen LSU law's plight for the next four or five years.

That's your only 2 options? Quite the geographical split there sir.

Ya, i think it will always be the same 14 for the foreseeable future

But Michigan sliding out of the top ten is all the buzz on the legal blogs...
