Mike Triplett ?@MikeTriplett 40m40 minutes ago ... Makes me wonder even more if #Saints are heading toward a widespread overhaul after 7-9 season. We'll know soon with more moves to make.

OTC is the most accurate in terms of contract details that have been announced.

Currently, we're 14.2mil over (without calculating some potential moves that are guaranteed to happen).

1. Bunkley 2.85mil savings (pay cut)
2. Graham 3.33mil savings (restructure)
3. Hawthorne 2.99mil savings (cut/trade)
4. Bush 1.95mil savings (cut/trade)

That means we're currently sitting at 3.08mil over the cap.
Moves that are pending:
1. Jahri Evans cut/pay cut (6.0mil savings)
2. Marques colston pay cut (Agreed, but numbers have not shown. I believe its ~3.0mil)

Those two happen, it'd be ~5.92mil under

Moves that are possible:
1. Ben Grubbs cut/pay cut (3.6mil savings)
2. Ben Watson cut (1.5mil savings) -> I honestly don't think this happens, but it is a number that you can watch
3. Corey White cut (1.542mil savings)
4. Junior Galette restructure/trade (R: saves 10.404 mi, T: saves 11.75mil)

Potentially: 22.966-24.312mil under.

I honestly think a "widespread overhaul" is the only way to go. Look, we (and by "we", I'm including the Saints organization) all thought this team was a real contender entering last year, and found out the hard way that they're not.

So, if you buy the premise that you need a plus-player at the QB position in today's NFL to win a title (and I think you do), then retaining an offensive skill position core, refreshing the OL, and declaring open season on the defensive side of the ball makes sense if you think you have 2 years (maybe more, if his deal gets extended or reupped)of Brees being an above-average QB.

A big reshuffling on D in 2015, with the hope you're taking multiple steps forward prior to 2017. If you're not positioning yourself to be a true contender, then there's no point in paying Brees and Graham all that cheddar in the first place.
