How can these bands draw such a big crowd all the time?
I personally just don't see the appeal of watching a bunch of dressed up clowns sing cover songs.
I love 80's music. Im just not interested in paying to go hear it played by these dudes.
Anyone else feel the same?

What else are you going to do in Baton Rouge?

Because society says that if you want to be part of a good time that "matters", then you'll go to these musical buffet places and hear the same songs and have the same good time. Wash, rinse, repeat.
I loved seeing RUSH in concert, but I will be damned if I go to see every show (travel with them) on one tour. How people do that is beyond me. So, me going to one of these shows more than twice (just so happens I have seen each of them twice) would be unnecessary.
So, yes. I feel the same. New Year's Eve with bag of Donuts and you have done it more than once already = get out and try something new for your own sanity.

The crowds are already there for the wedding

Their lead guitar player is pretty talented.
My favorite of the 3.

Most people don't go to concerts to hear original music. They don't go because they love exploring, discovering, or see music as some kind of art. They go to concerts to socialize. People who go to concerts to socialize are there for an experience with their friends. The music is secondary. They are there to see, be seen, and have fun. This is what cover bands were invented for. People who just want to socialize want the music experience in the background, a familiar soundtrack to good times. For these people, they themselves are the focal point, not the band. Wedding bands are generally cover bands because they are not the main focus of the event. They just help to provide the ambiance.
Those that are fans of the music more so than just the social gathering tend to gravitate towards original music. They are there to listen not to see or be seen. They go to hear something new, to experience the music, not just to experience a night out with their friends. They're not looking for a familiar backdrop, they're looking for new and in their face.
It's just a completely different mindset for a completely different kind of experience...man...

i enjoy the chee weez. Used to like em better with what i think was the original singer.

I thought these were basically wedding, corporate, homecoming, ball type bands.

I have managed to survive this far without hearing any of those bands!
