Threw my perch pole down last Fall when some came up. Had one on a bass rig when perch pole takes off across boat. Jig could not have been over 2' under water when one came up and got it.

Was fishing on the back side of the small island last year. Had little man slinging a silver rattle trap towards open water. One damn near took his rod out of his hands

There's a 6' 6" med-hvy falcon with a Curado attached to it at the bottom of Concordia from a similar incident. In my instance, we were trolling out into the lake towards some schooling bass. Chart/wht 1/8 oz Wedge (double Colorado) Spinnerbait on said rig was hanging off the front of the boat about 12" ABOVE the water and within 24" of trolling motor shaft. While leaning back on my stool bullshitting with the guy in the back of the boat, a big splash right by my feet occurs, followed by the rod going over the side. Damndest thing. Same trip a trolling motor bracket broke and trolling motor went to bottom of lake. I haven't been back since.
