Q: Was last year's passing game meltdown all due to the quarterbacks?

A: "One of the biggest things we struggled with last season and something we will be greatly improved in is our receivers handling press coverage.

"Great receivers coming out of high school haven't seen a press corner in their careers. High school teams don't have corners on a consistent basis that are going to come up and press a Trey Quinn or a Malachi Dupre. Then it becomes the easiest fade throw in history. In high school, coaches are going to play the defenders off the receiver, they are going to play conservative.

"All of a sudden, receivers who have caught hitches and slants their whole high school careers are battling for their lives every down in college.

"Our ability to attack schematically and attack press coverage technique-wise is going to be dramatically better. You'll see the improvement. It has already (improved) because our guys are bigger and stronger

"That was part of the problem last year. From a quarterback standpoint, young quarterbacks transitioning from high school to college have got to adjust their ability to throw to the guys that are getting banged around. You saw that play out last season, even in the Texas A&M game. They play a press corner, we (starting QB Anthony Jennings) throw it in there and they intercept it on the first series of the game.

"Is that the quarterback? Is that the receiver? It's all of us. We've got to coach it better. We've got to teach it better. There's no doubt in my mind we'll get that solved."

Freaking this. The offense, as a UNIT last year was just entirely too young. Too many of the little things were under developed, causing the entire offense to sputter. People put the blame on the QBs , but they weren't getting a whole lot of help. This team got way better once the coaches saw this and decided to just pound it out and play ball control. The offense should see DRAMATIC improvements this year or else something is seriously wrong with the scheme/coaches.
