Had John Williams, Derrick Taylor, Anthony Wilson, Ricky Blanton.
Tito Horford would've been the game-changer, if he hadn't been extacted from the team.

Yeah, that was totally unfair that we had to beat Georgia Tech at the Omni in Atlanta in the Sweet 16.
Well my point went way over your hed. LSU hosted the 1st two games. Tech had to win elsewhere to even get to the Omni.

Don Redden was a huge difference maker for that team, RIP Don

11 is correct. Very fortunate to get the first two games at home, first over Purdue in double O.T. and the second the memorable Memphis game (best dance team I ever say BTW).
I think very shortly thereafter the home court deal, at least in the first two rounds, was eliminated for any team.
We earned our due with a couple of big wins after that, but were fortunate to get the first two rounds at home, especially as an 11 seed.

That's true, but so what. It's not like LSU was the only team ever to host a regional during that time. I'm sure some other low seeds hosted a regional a time or two.

Don Redden was my favorite LSU player back then. I remember going to Dale's basketball camp and he spoke to us. He passed away in March of the next year.

Yes #11 but that kind of season will never happen again. They will never let a team host a regional like that again.

VCU was 11 a couple years ago. 11 is lowest of all time though...

Ricky Blanton
--Was '86 the year of the famous Jim Hawthorne call, "Blanton in the corner...SWISHHHHHHHHHH!" and Ricky running down the court doing "Woo Woo Woo" with his arms?

Yes. LSU took out 6 seed Purdue and beat 3 seed Memphis on a last second buzzer beater. LSU went on to beat 2 seed Georgia Tech in Atlanta at the Omni. Then beat 1 seed Kentucky to go to the final four.
That was a magical ride. Riding the high of those wins was amazing. Dale and his "Freak" D. As happy as I was with those wins, some of the most crushing losses I have ever experienced as a LSU fan occurred when LSU bowed out of Final Fours and Great Eight runs. That loss to Indiana in the Great 8 when Knight punched the phones still haunts me to this day.
