Will be interesting with Employer Drug Testing... If I vacation in CO and get stoned legally, can my employer fire me if I get piss tested back at work the next week... I mean, hypothetically speaking of course.
yes.
and I know people in CO that got burned. And several manufacturing facilities are adding drug testing. My friend is really scared b.c he is a daily smoker and works in IT for a large mfger.

But FL will be the first southern state to legalize it. Heck the Creek Indians are threatening to do it. Unfortunately I think the Creek are just blowing hot air right now. If they were really serious about recreational pot, they wouldn't be threatening it to get gambling rights.

Depending on the labor laws in your state, a company has the right to fire you at will. If marijuana is listed as a restricted substance in the employee handbook and you sign the employee handbook when starting employment, I would imagine they could fire you for testing positive.

You're arguing the rights of private industry. Company policy doesn't have shite to do with the law (so to speak)
Think about booze... Yeah, you can drink it, but they monitor it. They'll just put language in your employee handbook about how "any use is prohibited"... It's up to you if your going to work there

My wife's employer sent out emails yesterday morning stating just that. It only applies to CDL drivers who are drug tested though.

I think Florida and North Carolina will be the next two states to go legal.

North Carolina

If you have not done it already, sign the petition to get decriminalization on the ballot later this year. I don't think they need many signatures, but every signature is helpful.

if my work did drug testing, I bet we would lose 25%+ of our employees.
I regularly bring the marijuana candies on business trips and about half the people I work with take them.
Heck, I have a meeting next week and one person is asking me to bring about $50 worth of edibles.

If her place of employment tested regularly, they would lose 90% I would imagine. They do pre-employment and test their drivers but only after an accident or injury.
Hell, I've been over there after hours and everyone was smoking and drinking.

If a CDL driver gets into an accident that is not their fault, do they get tested? If so, is it a urine sample?

Yes. I believe it's a condition of their insurance policy.

They smoke and drink after hours at the office and they have a written policy against doing so?
Posted on 2/25/15 at 5:45 pm to PrettyLights
Seems like its been legal at the white house for some 6 odd yrs....just saying.
Posted on 2/25/15 at 5:46 pm to munchman
So does that mean coke was legal at the White House from 2000-2008?

Yeah. I guess as long as the home office don't know, they don't care.
