I've never understood why they care about a OL's 40 time. The 10 yard split should be more important.

That is all they care about, it's just lagniappe to see what they run, it's the first ten yards and get off that they look for.

Yeah, they probably shouldn't even have to run it IMO. I kind of think doing 225 for reps on Bench Press is stupid for Offensive lineman. Those guys should be doing at least 275 and probably 315 IMO for reps. Just isn't much of a difference benching 225 21 times as opposed to 23 times. lol

The times that NFL scouts look at is the 10yard split, shuttle, 3cone drill, and the vertical and broad jump.
They care way more about your burst out of a stance and how you do changing direction. Very rarely do you run 10yards straight in a game. And the vertical and broad jump is the best way to gauge how explosivr you are.
