You just accept that your boots are going to get wet. The big benefits of that kind of wader:
-they conform to your leg, so there is less chance they'll get punctured because there's no air gap for a stick to puncture into
-they are significantly lighter and easier to walk in
-the boots are sized correctly to your foot (and if you do this you should get lace up boots for this, not slip on lacrosse type boots). this means that you have a lot less trouble with your boots getting suctioned off your foot when walking through sticky mud
