Darrel Williams 2015

maybe a bit too early for this thread (only 6 months till football season!) but lets talk about expectations for Darrel Williams in 2015. The former 4 star recruit has been kind of the overlooked man. He was in a recruiting class with super recruit Leonard Fournette and then served as 4th string behind 2 seniors and LF. Often times when his name was called, it was in short yardage.
Overall stats: 64 carries 302 yards (4.7 ypc) 3TD
LINK
His senior year, he rushed for over 2,200 yards. Checking out the tape, he's got some decent speed for a big man. In 2015, he should move up the depth chart by default and be #2 to LF but theres some talented backs coming in (Guice, Brossette). I'm actually pretty excited to see Williams get a bit more opportunity to showcase his skills. Thoughts? Does he become Kenny Hilliard? Short yardage backup capable of a few breakout games here and there

I think his role will pretty much stay the same. LF will get the majority of carries with a DW getting a lot of short yardage carries.
I think Guice will get just as many carries of DW. Guice will be hard to keep off the field.

He will continue to be the short yardage back and will get 8-10 touches a game.

He's the backup to LF, but Guice will be the #2 RB and take on that Magee type role.
DWill will be the RB that spells LF for a drive here and there. Similar to Hilliard last year but I think DWill will have an expanded workload in that role.

I liked what I saw from Williams and thought that he probably deserved a few more carries than he got last year. That said, it was tough to get carries in LSU's loaded backfield.
It's not just the jersey number, be he reminded me a bit of Steven Ridley. A guy that was always running downhill, but still had the ability to make quick cuts in the hole. I think Guice could be a great back, but until he and/or Brosette can prove they are big time backs, Williams should be number two.
LF is a great physical talent and you have to get him carries. However, if for some reason he was out, I'd feel confident that Williams could carry the load (though with less of a threat for a big run)

DW's my favorite player. I still think we should run the wishbone so more of these guys can be on the field at one time.

Williams is def the No. 2 back! Don't know how others can say Guice or any incomin frosh would be No. 2?? Big difference going from HS to college ball as Fournette found out. Besides, it will be a nice change of pace from Fournette's power mixed with elusiveness style. Williams is pretty much a all power back.
but once the other 3 backs get used to the speed of the game. It will be fun watching these guys take turns running.

I expect a similar season that Magee had in 2013.

DW is likely a 4-year guy who will probably be a backup for two more years but is certainly talented enough to garner more snaps than he got a year ago. Look for him to bust off some big gains next season. He played a little nicked at times last season also. With the three freshmen coming in to join Williams and LF, this could prove to be the deepest collection of Tiger backs ever, especially in 2016 when all five will have great experience.

Williams will be the co-#2 back with Guice. I see Fournette with north of 200 carries in the regular season and Willams and Guice with around 70-80 each.

When we go full house pistol, expect Williams to be the H Back. Also can sub in at FB and our dual HB I form packages. Dude is the complete back. Happy he's here.

I don't think he's overlooked by LSU fans. THere's a reason he was in on so many plays

I loved Spencer Ware and DDub reminds me of him. LF is the home run hitter, but I really thought DDub transitioned more quickly into the college game than LF because he's such a strong north/south runner, while LF needed just a little time (2 or 3 games) to develop the vision that's already made him an elite back.
The talent chasm between our RB stable and everybody else's is unbelievable.

In my opinion, if he lost about 10 pounds or so he'd be lethal. He's a great running back who will get plenty of carries. He just looked like a slight loss of weight would help with his agility and quickness
