IMO, casting with less than 20# braid is like casting with thread.
Many more tangles.
20 is still pretty fine, and doubt you would see much casting difference. I was ready to go away from braid when I was using 10-15# because of tangles. Someone suggested 20# and its a world of difference.

I don't notice a substantial difference and the additional strength and abrasion resistance of the 30# makes up for any little loss in casting distance. The only reason I use 20# braid on my Penn Slammer 260 is line capacity, but once again that shouldn't be an issue on the Battle 4000. It can hold plenty of 30#.
