We also don't need to have an NFL caliber player there, either.

Well, you cited those 3 guys as examples of college QB's that Cameron coached up during their college careers. My point is that, strictly as college QB's, these guys had more ability than Jennings; hence their ceilings were higher.

Sounds as though you're anticipating that Harris will be coached up to the level we need by the first game on next season. I hope you're right, but until we see great improvement on the field, I see the Tigers having essentially the same problems at QB that we had last season.

He's also comparing how Cameron "coached up" basically three first round picks (Brees was #32 in 2001 draft) into great QBs.

I really really wish people would stop using Cameron's development of NFL QBs into anything about his ability to develop a high school or college QB. Hell, he gets way too much credit for Mett's development given he got him as a 5th year senior.

There is a huge difference in coaching a very young and developing QB than a polished QB coming out of college to the pros.

That said, everyone trying to claim talent was Steele's lone issue in 2011 at Clemson are going to be in for a big shock. The guy has literally struggled at every stop where he's had more responsibility than being a head recruiter or positional coach. That's his history. The guy is a great recruiter and LBer coach, but has proven little as a DC that is positive or promising.

Despite all that, I am cautiously optimistic that next year will be an improved year for this team.

He didn't coach ANY of those QBs in college, as his career has largely been confined to the NFL.

At the college level, he developed Antwaan Randle El and Zach Mettenberger.
