But will 4 beers a day kill somebody if they do it for 20+ years?

It won't kill them, but they have an increased all-cause mortality as opposed to people who drink less than them. And more drinking increases all-cause mortality.

I've heard that somebody has to drink at least 6 per day over the course of 20 years to develop cirrhosis of liver.

I've seen cirrhotics in their 30s. Higher volume drinking doesn't require 20 years. I really doubt 6 a day would cause cirrhosis. It does have a lot of other negative effects (cognitive, blood pressure, vascular disease, pancreatic issues...6/day is too much to be considered "healthy" if it's literally every day)

I don't have a problem with somebody drinking as much as they want whenever they want as long as they don't drink and drive or do anything else stupid.

I don't have a problem with it. It's a pretty preventable cause of a lot of spent healthcare dollars, though. Most of which get passed off to taxpayers and insurance-buyers.
