Sounds like you had some conviction about not tipping the waiter. I've really never understood people like you who have it out for the waiters... waiters are typically people who do not have much money, and they work really long and terrible hours. I always tip unless they are purposely rude, which rarely happens.

In summary, go frick yourself OleDoucheSkuleAlum

Makes them feel big and important.

"Let me hold this money over you peasant! I'm going to be a dick to you because you have to be nice to me!"

Says a lot about a person.

Why would you tip for someone doing their job? Do you tip the pilots for getting you to your destination on time? Do you tip your doctor for prescribing you the correct medicine to make you feel better? Do you tip the police officer ensuring your safety?

The answer to all the above is no. Why? Because they are simply doing their job. Waiters are no different.

That's my one thing.

Even if everything is terrible, I will tip something.
If you suck horribly I'll give you 10-15%
did an okay job, but my ice tea was never full - 15-18%

you keep my drink full and don't forget any of my order when on Micros, then you get 20%.

In fact I always mentally add 30% when looking at restaurant prices and menus. (9% tax)
