I understand your point, I just didn't enjoy it that much and the time I got the furthest in the game was probably my 2nd or 3rd attempt to get into it.

This I totally agree with. If they made a sequel to it and integrated the repeating time idea with something more interesting I'd be really interested in it.

Despite time travel being such an overused plot device, it hasn't been used as often as I would like as a gameplay mechanic. For example, one of the reasons why I loved Chrono Trigger so much is its New Game+ mode. It allowed me to play through the story again (and again) with my characters, as if I had time traveled back to the beginning of the game and repeat the same events but with slightly different outcomes. Back then it felt like I was able to break the game but the designers planned for it. There's a lot of fun that could be mined out of that idea and the ideas present in MM.
