fricking NOPD...
A friend had her credit card number skimmed on Sunday while shopping in Metairie. She called her bank and they blocked the card. While following up on it at work on Monday, they told her she needed needed to file a police report. So she called JPSO and a deputy showed up at her office in about 20 or 30 minutes. He told her that because the card wasn't physically stolen and the billing address was in N.O., she'd have to file the report with NOPD.
She called NOPD and offered to stop at a station to file the report. Nope, we've gotta come to your house. She called again when she got home from work at 6:23pm. When do you think the patrolman arrived? ~11:30pm. What a load of shite. I know it's Mardi Gras, I know they're busy and I know they're woefully understaffed, but this is bullshite. (Frankly, I'm surprised they actually even showed up.)
In their defense: She said the cop was polite, friendly, thorough and extremely apologetic about the delay. But a five hour wait is ridiculous. I wonder what the wait time is on real emergencies?

I called them for an emergency a few weeks ago at about 1 am on a Friday. I was shocked how fast they showed up.
