My parents used to do that shite. Get up before dawn for Endymion and Bacchus and set up the ladders and chairs. Started doing it after my grandma got knocked off a stool and broke her arm during a parade, she was 85+. We would stumble in around late afternoon and would always have tons of neighbors and friends in the space, so it's not like we wasted space.
