my son's boat got drilled at a stop light in b'ham today. broke motor toter, trim tab and bent rear trailer crossbar in about 4 inches. his trailer lights were on. not able to tell about internal damage to the lower unit.
police report was filed. the girl admitted fault. my question is, what does my son need to do as far as assessing damage to motor. take it to a repair shop? launch somewhere and see if it runs? wait for adjuster to see the damage?

thanks for replies!

Wait for adjuster , see what they say, then bring to mechanic of your choice and see what they say

The problem with this is they probably wouldn't know if any internal damage has been done.
I'd take it to a mechanic first

Get the police report. Find out the address of the person who hit the boat. Get some guys together with some boards and pay a little visit.

I'd have the adjuster go to the mechanic shop. The mechanic can show adjuster things that the adjuster may have overlooked.
