The "art" of being an "artist" is getting people to pay you obsurd amounts of money so you can participate in a hobby you enjoy.

stuff like this is why i will never understand art. clearly you are buying the art because of the painters history... right? this is nothing special. and if it is, that just proves the point that I will never understand art

Sorry but the Gaugin looks amateurish. Look at the weird angle on the foot. It looks like something I would do and if you saw it without the reference of who did it, would think it suggested a lack of talent.

Also, the two subjects look like they belong in another painting with a different background. It looks like the background here was stolen from a low quality cartoon.

The Cezanne I like.

Love Gaugin and his Tahitian phase. Saw the exhibition in Cleveland a few years ago and was blown away. I am willing to speculate this painting was bought by Qatari royalty, but I'm not 100% sure.
