This is the way i see it...LSU's most successful years have been with a pocket QB (Mett, Flynn, Russell, Mauck, Davy) and obviously a awesome defense....My thoughts on a duel threat...

A) NFL Duel Threats have maybe 2 good years then they are off the map..

B) Pocket Qbs as a whole are better passers than duel threat...(have accuracy, power, and read defenses better)

C) Duel Threat is easier to defend in my opinion than Pocket due to there being a 66% chance the ball will be ran (either by qb or rb) and 33% will be thrown and in that 33% chance of throwing you have a good/decent pass...(basically i believe you lose accuracy and maybe some strength on a duel threat vs a pocket passer)

D) i think what LSU needs is a mobile pocket passer(even though we had amazing success on offense with a qb that couldnt run 10'..Sorry Mett) ... one that can move around the pocket some and can read defenses and great accuracy....aka - Aaron Rodgers type

E) i think if a duel threat is used it should be used how we used Perrilloux in 2007 as a change of pace.

bottom line - LSU and really the NFL has more successful teams with pocket passers rather than duel threat...proof is in the pudding

This is all jus my opinion
