IMO what Ohio St. did in this situation isn't unethical. College sports as a whole is unethical.
Michigan will forever struggle to hold Cass Tech down because of the inner city kids don't like the snobby alumni

So you're basically calling the University of Michigan alumni racist.
Gotcha.
Gotcha.

I just assumed and read between the lines. I could be wrong.

Players should be choosing a school, not a positional coach. The school should be the overriding factor in the decision.
That's like saying when you're trying to choose between 3 or 4 jobs, you should only look at the company and its bottom line, not the people you're going to be working with and for.
For most, job satisfaction mostly depends up the people they work with and whether their direct supervisors are nice to work for or complete a$$holes.

How many LSU fans think Adam Henry should have been honest with Tyron Johnson and Jazz Ferguson?

I do dunson. See my post on rant yesterday. He knew about job prior to signing day. To cover hiss butt, I will guess that SF did not offer until after NSD

If he really like the coach and was misled, I really do feel bad for him. If he requests to transfer then let him go.
At the same time, if there is anyone here who thinks there school is above this, then they are sorely mistaken.

Here are my thoughts, although they do not mirror the coaches decisions completely
If I was to interview for another job, I would not tell my current employer until I was leaving. I would not tell anyone being hired by the firm if I was interviewing them that I was leaving. I wouldn't tell the boss until I had at least gotten the offer.
So, in that way I understand why all these coaches don't tell the kids. Just because I know the Drayton situation the best, what if he told the kid, and the kid went and blabbed to everyone?
On the other hand, recruiting is obviously different, and a lot of kids aren't going to schools for a degree first and foremost; they are going to play for a school/coach/scheme that fits them

Now the Cass Tech high school coach (Ohio state's Michigan pipeline school), is getting in on the anger.
Here is Cass Tech's Coach Thomas Welcher and his staff visiting Ohio State today
Sorry to burst your bubble HHtM.

As much as I love Tennessee, I couldn't imagine picking them during the Dooley era. Now imagine he's hired after your previous coach is fired. The coach matters no matter how much you love a school.

I didn't read the whole thread but I will say this. SC had a great recruiting class (top 5 per rivals) for most of the year. Spurrier comes out and says he only has another 2-3 years left in him. The class damn near falls a part (finished 18-19 or so). So I can see the reason for coaches being less-than-truthful.

Commit to the school. Not a coach. Coach is never guaranteed to be there the 3 years the player is required to be. I know a relationship with a coach is a key factor in getting a player to a school but if a kid can't see himself at the school without the coach there, its probably not the right fit to begin with.
That's nice in theory but these are people we're talking about here. These kids come to play for other people that they like. They don't play for them because they represent a school. They play for them because they like them and trust them. Otherwise why would recruiters need to be charismatic?
