Todd McShay 2.0

26 Baltimore Ravens Jalen Collins, CB, LSU

28 Denver Broncos La'El Collins, OT, LSU

Of course this is pre-combine, but do y'all think La'El Collins falls that late?

If he falls, it's not because of talent. More about needs and what teams are looking for in the 1st round

I honestly think La'El has a fantastic combine and moves up to the middle of the 1st round. I don't see Jalen as a 1st rounder at all. More like a 3rd rounder, maybe 2nd rounder with a great combine.

Is it just me or does anyone else thin kit's crazy people keep projecting Jalen Collins in the first round? Solid player but not exactly a shut down corner. Tharold Simon and him were similar size players and I always thought Simon was better and he didn't go near round 1.

Yeah, I remember an ESPN article back in 2011 where the players said he was the most underrated "freak" athlete on the team. I'm assuming McShay is anticipating Collins to crush the combine

Let me get this straight. Jalen got a stay in school grade from the NFL, but he gets a first round projection in McShay's mock?

Not crazy at all given that the draft is as much about potential as anything.

Collins is faster and has better ball skills than Simon. If he runs in the 4.3s, that'll probably be all he needs to punch his ticket to the 1st round.

I think mock drafts are frickign stupid.

But i really don't think Jalen is a 1st rounder.

I disagree with that. IMO Collins was considerably better than last year than Simon ever looked at LSU. It's hard really remembering Collins ever getting beat in coverage, and he tackled well. His biggest issue was missing interception opportunities, which if not for that he probably would have been All-SEC.

I think McShay has been way too low on La'El for a while. I can't imagine a guy like Devin Funchess getting drafted before La'El Collins, that's crazy to me.

Danielle Hunter's size and speed should excite scouts at the combine.

EXACTLY. While he is a physical run-stopper at corner with good size he gets beat in coverage. He did a poor job this season on the quick slants that often resulted in 1st downs. He should have stayed for another yr.

I'm not saying Jalen is a 1st rounder, but he played very well last year despite all the crap he took on here.

I think most of it came in his second year when he played through an injury. Martin got the same treatment.

You would think they were the Welter's of the DBs by reading the rant.

Well I guess you're forgetting that in 2011 Simon had over 40 tackles and 10 PBU, which led the team. Plus he only gave up 3.6 yards per attempt on 30 passes against the 7 best passing offenses we played that year. Claiborne and Mathieu both gave up over 7 ypa in those games.

I'd be surprised if La'el falls that far honestly

Jalen Collins had a really good year. He got beat some, but he also made plenty of plays.

Even the best corners get beat sometimes when you play press man the majority of the time, especially when your front 7 has difficulty getting pressure on the QB.

+1

He doesn't have to be a man-to-man corner on every team. He just needs that one team that needs a big corner with improved ball skills. I don't think there are many corners who will transition to the NFL better that Jalen. Perfect fit for a Tampa 2 or the Seattle zone defense.

Collins may be a little faster (not by much), but I disagree on ball skills. Collins' ball skills aren't very good. It's his biggest negative. Great tackling skills, and very good cover guy, however.

Well if Greg Robinson can go from a proj. early 2nd round pick, have a fantastic combine and move up to the 2nd overall pick to the Rams, using your language, if Collins has a fantastic combine he could go top 10 overall. OT is always highly valued. Lets Hope

Side note- Still flustered that Greg Robinson went to Auburn instead of home state LSU (thanks Grimes)
