Isn't that something the union is looking to rectify?

Exaggerate much?

Posted on 2/1/15 at 6:59 pm to Paige
I'm not sure. Part of the problem is not enough people to get all the work done.

Truck drivers disagree

That chick is just spouting off the same hyperbole that unions brainwash members with.

The guys/girls who work the console are also operators. Being automated and it running itself are two totally different things. These refineries don't run themselves. They are ran by operators using computer programs to adjust the units accordingly.

It costs refineries ridiculous amounts of time and money when people get hurt.
Acting like the unions are needed to drive this behavior is a joke.
And acting like the union is helping the workers and keepig management in check is a joke as well
Management figured out long ago that maintaining an educated, long tenured work force is the best route to a safe and productive operations
In fact, unions do their damnedest to resist safety programs and keep unsafe asshats employed.
Unions did such a good job, they have created an environment where they are no longer needed.

You said that management figured out that educated peoples are the best route? Tell me why they still hire to reach numbers of employees per certain demographic. Why do they hire bartenders, hair dressers, salesman etc. Why not hire the pipe fitters, electricians and welder a that are in the facilities day In and day out and that also know the lifestyle and hazards that associate with it?
Management hasn't figured out shat!

By educated meaning that they spend millions in training educating employees and employee retention is valuable to a company.
They hire to demographics becase the union supported big liberal government will file law suits against the company if they do not. *not sure if that is even a serious response*

That's their obligation. They are obligated to train their personnel. As far a demographics, it's all about vein fair and equal. I say hire the moist qualified and let's move on.
Posted on 2/1/15 at 7:52 pm to MeatHammer09
Plus management doesn't train operators or craftsman. Other operators and craftsman train/educate one another.
Posted on 2/1/15 at 7:54 pm to MeatHammer09
But management sure is proud to pull up spreadsheets to show their superiors how the employees are getting certified quick. Rush job to get to the board.

which state are you referring to when it comes to this numbers?
1989- 23 die 314 injured Phillips 66 houston
2005 - 15 die 170 injured Bp Texas city
2011-11 die deep water horizon
2009-1 died at marathon Garyville I was there he dropped to his death.
2013 there was over 10 thru out Texas
2014-3 died from h2s in Pasadena two where brothers.
What difference does It make if it is 1 or hundreds you are talking about the safety and lives of men and women who work in the refineries ever day their lives matter. And by the way why don't people check what is made in the refineries before you make such statements yes the plants are ticking time bombs . The last accident in Texas city catalyst unit could have been a lot worse then just a cloud going out into the public. Have you worked in a alkylation unit or even know what it is? What about a ultra cracking unit been in one lately .

Well you've made it quite clear why you do not work in an office environment if nothing else
