New orleans is obviously the best Mardi gras hands down. No question.

I actually broke up with a hottie that was in the air reserve and a senior at USA in mobile over Mobile having such a shite Mardi Gras. I lived with her and lived in the heart of the parade scene on Government st(I think) and I swear the big Sat before fat tue they had 2 parades rolling and it was supposed to be this big throw down. By 8pm that evening all the bars in the most popping area where the parades passed were completely empty. The lamest shite I've ever experienced and I'll never let the shite state of Alabama live that down. I was sooo pissed she made me miss my favorite holiday (and MG has always been my fav holiday, I've always said it) So I don't want to hear all that shite about how the first MG was started in Mobile and all that yada yada bullshite. Baton Rouge MG is toilet water and it still blows Mobile's MG out of the water.

Rode in Spanish town one year, and while it was decent, I probably would decline an offer again even with all the throws being free. Just didn't even get the feel of MG.

I heard Lafayette is pretty weak but you would expect they would have a little tradition built up and do it alright. I mean there is a lot of new money and hotties in the area so the debutantes should be legit. But I've never experienced it. I'd give Laffy a shot if I were invited to revel there. (Holla CPATiger)

Da Parish does a decent parade or two but they just don't have that many and the people just don't seem too interested. I guess most in the area that are into it are involved in nola.

I could only imagin Shreveport :paulallen: I doubt I'd even waste my time with one.

Mamou and Eunice are both unique, but I think are a bit blown out of proportion and most definitely not for everyone. Probably could go without even calling them Mardi gras parades since they aren't what most would consider one.

But I'd put Houma as the 2nd best Mardi Gras in the States. They know what they are doing. Very Bery underrated. They start early in the season and roll a shite ton of parades that are all pretty good. Also has a decent tradition considering of coronations and debutant balls.

Metairie is okay as well. More family friendly. I consider that nola lite. Still has a little history which is no doubt a factor when it comes to Mardi gras' right.

How would yall rank the Different Mardi gras'?

I'm too old for Mardi Gras, I'll go to the balls we're invited to because my wife likes to dress up but that's about it.

Great time to get out of town when kids are off of school but the rest of the country doesn't have holidays

New Roads MG is good with kids but nothing compares to St. Charles Ave.

Just catching Wednesday + Saturday & Sunday parades this year.

Should be plenty of trouble available to get me in the doghouse.

Have you ever been to a recent parade in da parish? Everyone in town shows up. The town is rocking.

The route sucks though.

I've done a lot of mardi gras for the last 10 years.

While I won't rank them in order, I will say New Orleans is not even close to the best.

Mobile Mardi gras is not New Orleans. However you're doing it wrong if you can't have a good time. And government is not where you have a good time.

If you ever grace us with you presence again I suggest you watch the parade at the garage (the bar not the parking garage).

There is only one parade that night in Mobile, MOT. Post full of shite. Other than that who cares? To each his own.

Well then...
Saturday, February 14 (Valentine's Day)

5:30 p.m. - Mystics of Pleasure (Orange Beach)
6 p.m. - Mystics of Time (Mobile, Route A)
6:45 p.m. - Shadow Barons (Daphne)

Houma is good, but you better have your wits about you while watching.

Mardi Gras sucks for the most part and New Orleans just takes it to a higher level of suckage.

I would rank any parade on the Eastern Shore over one in Mobile or New Orleans.

It's kind of hard to specify to out of towners really what a N.O. mardi gras is. Of course 90% probably assume Bourbon street with crowds of drunk college kids and trash. I gave up on that scene long ago with the exception of a few balcony VIP parties during the day on Saturday or Sunday.

Being out on Napoleon or St. Charles with family and friends is what it's about for me. With the cooking, house parties, drinking, occasional bar hopping, it's my favorite time of the year.

And the parades themselves are pretty important as far as what matters and it would be hard for anyone to tell me that anything comes close to N.O. as far as the awesomeness of so many of the floats. The various marching groups, great bands from around the country included, and unique throws are top notch. Hell, we even have three women's parades that are kick arse these days.

I rode in my first NOLA parade last year as part of Thoth and that just elevated the whole mardi gras thing to another level. It's an awesome group and the ride is a blast.
