In the most unpolitical way, what's the OT's general thoughts on where the country is with respect to the economy post 2008?

I'm curious to know what the general consensus is and whether most people are still feeling the proverbial recessional heat or if the mood is that the economy is coming back?

We've learned to live with less income and higher priced goods.

If you're in the oilfield,

Gas is cheap so everyone in Louisiana is unemployed and can't find work.

No and I don't think it'll ever be back.

No, get ready for another recession. The economy was propped briefly by the oil boom.

No way. Good jobs are scarce and employers are working people nearly to death because there's a glutton of qualified people who need a job.

America as well as Americans are just enjoying a higher level of debt.

The economy is nowhere near "back".

Depends where you are. Things are great here in Nashville. Commercial building is way up and not slowing. Tons of jobs.

Back to what ?

We are essentially a drug addict being pumped with more drugs. We do not have a healthy economy.

I don't think so, so much has changed since then it seems like apples to oranges.

Definitely back from post-2008 levels. That said, I would not want to be graduating when the employer mandate kicks in for smaller companies.

My 2008 self would be jealous of my 2015 self. Outside of politics, that's all I care about.

Average household income is $3k lower than six years ago so I would say we still have a ways to go.
