Second-time parent here. Admittedly, the wife does more of the work with baby #2 this time around. But I still have the wakeup responsibility each day until 3am. We both work, and I'm not a total dick.

Nope, just make them pauseable. Skyrim did this well. Save for the beginning, nothing else was really a locked-in cinematic. You could break dialog at anytime and resume without issue, save at any moment in time and be right where you left off.
