Do cops really know about copdots enough to make them worth it?

Also sounds like op wants something that anyone could see and use to return the item if it were left somewhere, while the cop dots would be more for theft

Correct. Not real sure about destructive marking such as engraving. That would kill a sale if I needed to do that. Just something a little more elaborate that a Sharpie. I still think CopDots is a must, but the reviews on Amazon and Lowes are not flattering - problems with the dispenser.

I think I'll look for somebody that sells very small brass nameplates. Not sure how I'll attach them.
