Upvote/Downvote function

The Upvote/Downvote function should be eliminated. if someone wants to voice an opinion about whether they like a post, then they should be required to make the effort to enter a post that has their screen name associated with the same.
As an example, the "Prince Tega update" thread currently on the recruiting board currently has someone down voting the well wishes to an injured athlete. That serves no legitimate purpose other than someone trying to make TD look bad . . . such as a member from another school trying to recruit the injured athlete.
At a minimum, the Upvote/Downvote function should not be available on the Rant or the Recruiting Board where the players and coaches are discussed.

I wish it actually meant something, like too many downvotes and a thread is anchored, or a poster is no longer allowed to start threads for a certain time. That, plus it lets you know who downvoted, so it can't be take advantage of.
Plus, I let people know when I downvote them. Just do they know one of them is mine.

That's why the downvoters would be listed and could be monitored.
Plus, if people wouldn't be shitty posters, they'd have nothing to worry about.

It's a terrible idea that will lead to abuse and mob mentality with groupvotes
I do agree that if you have votes they should be made public

Well it at least gives it a use. People who abuse will be banned. It allows the board to monitor itself.

I think it would be good to show how many upvotes/downvotes there are on each post on the My Posts page. Basically in the same format as Replies

I do not care about downvotes in most of the threads, but when then downvote appears in a thread about a player or a coach and the use of the downvote appears as an anonymous attack at the player or coach, then that should be avoided the same as direct written attacks. Per the example given, a recruit breaks his leg and the well wishes for a speedy recovery are given a downvote ... that is just classless on every level and and is void of humor.

....and unfortunately, a part of fandom for many (not isolated to this forum). If anyone understands the ridiculousness of some fans I'd assume it would be players and coaches.

That implies you also want to get rid of a plethora of upvotes for a slam dunk LSU recruit like in this thread. LINK
The injured player thread that you reference is unfortunate but unavoidable and the actions of a few stupid people but in my opinion not enough to make any changes to it much less actually getting rid of it. Other websites have this problem and they haven't changed it and they're doing just fine.
