Guy on espn just said Hobo Bill will be the greatest SB coach even if he doesn't win this one with a record of 3-3 compared to Chuck Noll at 4-0.

Chuck Noll would be the better Super Bowl coach. But the better coach and career goes to the guy who made it there 6 times.

They are both good. Who cares which one is "better ".

They are both tied in goodness.

If we're talking about "Super Bowl Coach" then it's obviously Noll at 4-0. I'm not even sure how you can have another opinion. If you're talking about "playoff coach" the discussion gets more interesting.

I understand this But Walsh would have won the SB the year after he retired. Yes that team was that good... I just can't see them losing with him when they won with seifert........

I was just going with the original comparison of Noll to BB. But yeah Walsh should be in the discussion with Noll.

And really, if you argue that BB is the best Super Bowl coach at 3-3, couldn't you also have the discussion comparing him to the worst Super Bowl Coach, Marv Levy, at 0-4? He's just as close to Levy as he is to Noll (obviously assuming for the sake of this discussion that he loses to Seattle).

Hard to compare coaches from such different eras. The salary cap has made it really tough to build, let alone keep, a dominant team for a solid run. I'd take either one though.

True. Joe Gibbs won SBs with Doug Williams and Mark Rypien.

There's no argument to say 3-3 is better than 4-0 based on your wording, Super Bowl Career.

When half of your team is in the pro football Hall of Fame, and the other guy will only have 1, well you can have that opinion.

And Joe Theisman in 82

3 SB wins with 3 QBs is pretty good

One could argue it was easier to maintain a dynasty back in Knoll's day

4-2 > 4-0 if that is the case. 3-3 may not be greater, but that would be the only statistic that Montana is anywhere near the vicinity of Brady in.
