As of now, the change is as follows:

On old posts (older than 30 days), if the image is not hosted at certain image hosting sites (eg, imgur, photobucket, tinypic, imageshack,), then a link to the image will appear instead of the image appearing in the post.

This is subject to change, but this is the current logic.

As the above poster said, it doesn't appear consistent across hosts. It's a concern of mine because I've written a couple of guides for the gaming and tech boards that include tons of screenshots, and I'm working on another.

For one guide (the long PC-building guide), I used imageshack for all of the images. Visiting that thread now, I see that some of my imageshack screenshots are still intact, but any of them that I manually resized using this forum's code ("width=X") have been converted to image links (and those links are broken, by the way, since the hyperlink includes the resize rule).

Since writing that guide, my go-to became Gyazo because it's by far the easiest program to make selective screen/window grabs and annotations, but all of those have been converted to image links in my old posts since that host is not on your list. However, I made an attempt to edit one of those old posts and replaced a Gyazo-hosted image with one from imgur, and it was still an image link. Not sure why that is, but is there any chance you could retroactively add Gyazo to the list of "approved" hosts and look into the issue of "resized" images being converted to broken links?
