Yes that ONE example, that happened 30 years ago, of a parent not receiving jail time for the revenge murder has already been mentioned in this thread a million times already.

Your point that it does not happen very often is valid.
However, no jury is going to put a father in jail for murdering his child's murderer. If the father is this case wants revenge, he's pretty much got the green light.
