I don't know why some people keep insisting that DT is a need in this class. We have depth at tackle right now, and our next class will focus on that position.

Are we seriously pushing that hard for yet another five star CB in Marshall? We have more pressing needs like OT and DT/DE.
LOL yes.. can't just force those other positions to happen.. and you can never have enough lock down corners!!

You don't turn away the #1 ranked CB in this class, I don't give a damn how many other CBs you have

Yep, this mindset (of not "needing" the best DB in the class just because we have other position more of a concern) is what caused the Portland Trailblazers to pass on Michael Jordan - seeing as how they already had future HOFer Clyde Drexler at Jordan's position, and a dire need for a center.
Sometimes, talent simply trumps "need".

This was the mindset of one person. The majority is all for it.

I think we should take at least one DT in every class, but there's simply none out there interested that are good enough to say that this guys going to be a solid player for us. The ones who might be interested are more than likely "projects" or "roster fillers." You don't pass on the #1 cb in the country for someone who will probably sit the bench the vast majority of his career. The coaches are doing the right thing. They tried to get Mack. Kids not interested. With 5-6 really good D-linemen in the 16' class that we have a legitimate shot at, there's no point in reaching this year.

Posted this in another thread but for this weekend's OVs:
Mills is will Marshall, Godchaux is with Brossette, LF is with Guice and Lanard, Harris is with TJ (what does it mean??), Brumfield is with Weathersby, Battle is with Gibson, Thomas is with X. Lexis, Adams is with Donte, and the Ferguson brothers are together.

y concern is that some of DTs we recruited have not really earned significant playing time.

I would have liked to see Jamal Adams with one of the uncommitted guys like Marshall or Gibson. He seems to be one of the best promoters of LSU of the current players. Just my opinion.

Coach O is meeting with Reggie Walker. He is a Kansas State commit out of Ponchatoula High. He's 6'3 230 DE.
I was told by a reliable source that Saban was in Ponchy friday chasing after Donavaughn Campbell.

I totally agree. Adams should be hosting.

LSU looked at some high level DTs, but it looks like this will not come to fruition. Next year LSU will address that need. Grab some DEs, a LB or two, and at least one OL. If Marshall wants to come to LSU, hell yes you take him. It is not like LSU is running out of spots, but he is a take even if we were.

We tries to get a DT in the class but they weren't interested. It happens and we are very deep at the position. On top of that we are only losing 1 next year and will be bringing in 3-4 big time kids. No need taking one just to take one. We went after the best and missed. No harm no foul.
DE and LB are well we've fallen short and it will hurt if we don't snag 1-2 of each by signing day.
We have tries at DE and still are. We likely land at least 2 and that will help but we have to land 2-3 good ones next year. O will pull them in.
At LB, its like Chavis didn't even try to get any. We offered some huge national guys we had no shot with and then we pressed the Anderson kid committed to Bama and the other kid committed to UGa(both 3*kids that are solid prospects). Once we missed on those 2 its like Chavis just shut it down. Not saying he did or trying to start another bash Chavis topic but its really puzzling how barren the prospects are at LB when we will only have 4 at best returning in 16. If Beckwith bolts early then we are in huge trouble. For our sake I hope we land Lewis or someone. Sell immediate playing time and sell it hard because its there for sure.
