So, the BOS is back to controlling the head coach hires at LSU? That's a bad thing if so.

And the return game was dog shite this past year.

I don't like Peveto, but this is patently false.

#2 Kickoff return game in the country, #22 punt return game in the country.

ETA:

But our kicking game was brutal when it came to giving opponents short fields. We were 79th in the country in "Opponent Short Field" meaning drives our opponent started at the 50 or closer.

rhymes with Fimbo Jisher (allegedly)

we kind of knew the Miles to Michigan shenanigans was finished (if it ever actually got started) when FSU announced they had signed their head football coach to an 8 year extension.

*We lost 3 starting D-linemen and 2 DBs and the best linebacker all at once. LSU had to start over there.

*We lost 2 DTs, the starting running back and the two top receivers as juniors. We can recover from losing one lineman. You're essentially starting over again at DT (even though I think we're getting better effort now) and WR. That's a lot of knowledge and experience gone.

We're losing 2 DEs again and the best linebacker. Rasco was done,

No if's, and's, and but's about it, had those who left early stayed our football fortunes would have been better. Early departures hurt. But they happen. Les knows it's reasonable to think some will leave early.

Which brings into question his judgment to atomize each game to preserve victory. By so doing, we forfeit opportunities to give valuable PT to next year's players.

Learn from the ants. They have to prepare for winter.

Hanny just explained himself on the radio exactly how I explained it to you btw lol. Said he knows Saban makes people crazy around here and was telling people to look past that.

I don't want to get too paranoid but something about this whole deal reminds me of how things were run in the late 80s and 90s, and those of us old enough to remember know how that worked out....

It didn't work then and it x100 won't work now. College football is big time now and if you want a big time program (or maintain a big time program) you have to pay to play.

I don't necessarily think we are going cheap. My opinion is that there is some battles going on between Les and those writing the checks. This has been an unusually long "search".

No, no it hasn't.

Its been 13 days during a recruiting dead period.

it has not been unusually long. look at how quickly Oklahoma replaced its oc. how many of you would be happy with a quick hire from east Carolina.

Serious question, how long do most of the coordinator searches last? I can't imagine most of them have as many names linked to the job as this LSU DC spot has. It was basically called by a few on here that as soon as this spot came open, DC's all around the country were about to get pay raises.

Thanks, Chavis.

Then so be it. One recruit shouldn't hold this hostage.

Yep. I really want Franks here, but with Harris being a junior for 2016 and Jennings a senior, we'll have some QBs who want to be here.

One of those could be Cole Kelley. He reminds me so much of the #8 pro style QB this year, Zach Gentry. Both 6'7 230, both mobile pocket passers with big arms (hell, you could call them dual threat). Both run read option as well. Texas already has Gentry and I'd really like us to have Kelley.

Which is why I am ok with us not jumping to hire someone in the first couple of days.

A&M took over 30 days to hire Chavis. Miles took much longer than this to hire Cam Cameron and everyone was ecstatic. I am not sure why everyone is in a rush.

How can Miles get rid of Peveto when he bites into that BBQ?

Not saying Orgeron doesn't know his way around the grill but I think it's fair to say he's no where near a Peveto level.

That is only one half of the coin. Our kickoff and punt coverage regressed, and both the punters and kickers that were significantly more consistent last year regressed as the season went on.

Return rankings are often the product of great athletes returning the ball moreso than great coaching.
